The Spring Concert was a great success. The children had a great time and I know you did too. Thanks for joining us.  The end of the school year is coming soon. The Walk-a-Thon is May 23. You are welcome to join the walk in Lincoln Park.    Social Studies grade 6 is ending the year studying Ancient Greece. Grade 5 is studying the Fight for a continent. Grade 5 Science Class is studying the weather they had a good time doing the activity “How to make a tornado.   For Family Life we had several lessons on Bullying in the school.

Parents, Guardians, & Students,

                The weather outside is starting to heat up and the summer season is just around the corner. You can start putting away those heavy coats and snow boots and replace them with athletic sneakers and shorts. Over the next few weeks I will be posting some fantastic websites for you to stay active and eat right during your summer break, even on vacation!!! This year of Physical Education class has been a great experience for myself and I hope it was the same for all the students. I will also post our weekly Static and Dynamic Stretching routines with the hopes of students continuing to build strenght and flexibility.

Sixth Grade Health Project

Introduction: Over the past two weeks our Phys. Ed. class has been meeting in the library for Health Class. We have discussed some very important vocabulary words which all the students received a hand-out. We have discussed some myths about certain foods and especially sports drinks. The idea for this project is to have an open mind to new and healthy foods and being as creative as we can while creating our menus

Objective: To become owner of your own restaurant and create a menu for all your costumers.

Goal: To make the menu as health as possible while still pleasing yourself and your guest. Please be creative

Materials: Students were told to either use plain white paper, which was available to each student. Students were taught how to fold the paper into a three (3) paged menu. Students were also given instructions to either hand write the menu or use Microsoft Word, which they were given instructions on how to create a brochure-like paper through the program.

Chap. 23 Immunity and Disease.

We will begin to learn about the Immune System.  We will explore infectious diseases caused by viruses and bacteria.  They will discuss their causes and treatments.  We will also explore nonfectious diseases and their causes.  We will discuss ways to prevent them and their treatments.

Chap. 19 Oceanography

Exploring the Seafloor.  Children will begin to learn about the ocean basins, ridges, trenches, and mineral resources from the seafloor.  Children will explore Life in the Ocean and its processes.  We will learn how Ocean Pollution affects the entire world and ways it can be controlled.

The meaning of adverbs.  Our focus is based on types of adverbs.  We will be learning about adverb phrases and clauses.

Narrative essay’s explore the subject by telling a true story.  The narrative essay “Cat on the Go,” for instance centers on the actions of Oscar, a friendly and restless cat.

The 7th grade class worked very hard on creating their own children’s book’s.  Each child orally presented their story to the class.  Congratulations.

Children will begin to learn about Jesus the Healer.  Jesus has the power to heal and forgive.

The children will begin to explore the role of attraction in human relationships. We will discuss life choices and how they are a part of growing up.
