James A. Walling Award
The James A. Walling Award has been given to one male and one female graduate since 1993. It is the highest honor any of our student athletes can receive. The reason for this is quite simple: James Walling was a man of high moral character, who was extremely dedicated to this school and to his athletes. He encouraged every one of his athletes to maintain high academic excellence and had high expectations for them on and off the court. He wanted everyone to be the best person that they could be. This didn't always mean being the best athlete on the court or the top student in the classroom. It meant always trying your best and always doing the "right thing" in life. That is what Mr. Walling considered a "quality" athlete and human being. The recipients of the Walling Award embody these qualities and would have definitely been "starters" on Mr. Walling's Team.
