My name is Ms. Sullivan and I am teaching 7th and 8th Grade Language Arts/Reading for the 2016-2017 school year. Classes will meet once a day, 5 days a week, in Room 301.
Let's get off to a great start is 2017!
OPEN TUTORING UPDATE:
8th grade Monday 3-3:30
7th grade Tuesday 3-3:30
We are more than half way through our Vocabulary Workshop Books building our vocabulary every week. Students have begun working with a Student Study Team to increase understanding by teaching and helping each other! Also, since research has proven that more time spent reading leads to higher academic achievement overall, students are reading monthly independent reading books of their choice.
7th Grade has finished writing an essay on A Christmas Carol and will be moving on to cover the famous drama The Crucible. The unit will begin with a lesson covering background information about the Salem witch trials before moving into the play. This unit will tie in history.
8th Grade is currently working on the screenplay The House of Dies Drear which ties in social studies issues. Students will begin working on an argumentative essay about the screenplay in Google Classroom. The Class of 2017 has also started work on our yearbook The Graduate!
